STEPS:

  • Prepare the Dough:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast. Mix until well combined.

    • Slowly add warm water to the dry ingredients, mixing until a smooth, non-sticky dough forms. Add more flour if needed.

    • Place the dough in a greased bowl and allow it to double in size for about an hour.

    • After the dough has doubled, punch it down and divide it into six equal portions. Roll each portion into balls and cover them with plastic wrap for 20 minutes.

  • Prepare the Meat Mix:

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients for the meat mixture. Mix well until thoroughly combined.

  • Assemble and Bake:

    • Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    • Roll out each dough ball into 8-inch circles, making them very thin.

    • Place two circles of dough on the parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Using a spoon, distribute the meat mixture evenly over the dough circles.

    • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the dough is light brown. Adjust baking time if necessary based on elevation.

    • Remove the Lahmacun from the oven and allow them to cool on a wire rack.

    • Repeat the process until all the dough and meat mixture are used.

  • Serve:

    • Serve the Lahmacun with a side of Greek yogurt mixed with dried mint and lemon for a refreshing accompaniment (optional).

    • Garnish with fresh Italian parsley, marinated sumac onions, fresh mint, and freshly squeezed lemon for an extra burst of flavor.

    • Enjoy the authentic flavors of Lahmacun, a delicious Armenian delight!
